The second member to join BTS was Suga whose real name is Min Yoon-gi. He was born on March 9, 1993 in Daegu, South Korea. As he already had his birthday last month so now his age is 28. By age 13 he began to write lyrics and learned about MIDI. He worked at a record studio as a part-time job by the age 17. Suga started as a rapper under the name Gloss in high school and it didn’t take long for Suga to make a name for himself as both a rapper & a producer (He was known at the time for producing and composing beats for local artists like band D-Town in his hometown of Daegu). Suga then started producing tracks for more well-known artists, like, Reflow, who worked with Suga on his song “Who Am I”.

Suga auditioned for Big Hit Entertainment after he saw a flyer for Big Hit’s rap competition called “Hit It”. Suga didn’t win the competition, but he came second which made Big Hit to sign him as a trainee/producer. Suga only planned to become a producer but the Big Hit Entertainment company convinced him to join BTS in 2010 and now he’s the band’s main rapper. To this day he jokes that Bang Shi-hyuk tricked him into joining the group. He is also known as Sugar, Suga and sometimes his other members call him Grandpa. He is also the second oldest member of BTS.

J-Hope whose full name is Jung Ho-Seok was born on February 18, 1994 in Gwangju, South Korea. He also had his birthday this year on february 18 so his age is now 27. Before joining BTS, J-Hope was best known as a dancer. He always loved to dance and for his love towards dance he auditioned for JYP Entertainment but before that he joined a dance crew called Neuron in his hometown of Gwangju. Though he made it through a few rounds, J-Hope was eventually cut from JYP, which led him to audition for Big Hit Entertainment instead. Because of his dance skills & his rhythm, Big Hit saw J-Hope’s potential as a rapper and signed him as a trainee. J-Hope was very active during his trainee days & he was also often seen as a backup dancer for GLAM’s Glamorous performance, 2AM Jo Kwon’s “I’m Da One” promotions & was even featured as a rapper for Jo Kwon’s track “Animal” which was released in 2012.
